Three Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

Article marketing has been really good for me and my list and my web site and my business. That is a pretty strong (although incorrect grammatically) statement, but I am a real big believer in article marketing. It has been the difference fro me and I think that if I had not found article marketing, I probably would not be fulltime online today, but that is really a different story for a different day.

There are two ways to article market, and although they work together synergistically, I think that when you are just starting out, you should choose one and focus on it so that you get really good at it. Then once you know what works and why, from first-hand experience, then you can try the other form.

So what are they? Here is the first one: write and submit articles for the purpose of getting rank-increasing backlinks to your web site. The theory is that when you have lots of backlinks to your web site, the search engines rank you higher, because they assume that you must be popular. To do this, you need backlinks from a lot of sites not a lot from a few sites. So to do this best, it is better to submit 1 article to 500 sites than to submit 500 articles to one site. So if you are going to do this, write one article, then submit it to as many article directories as you can find online. Vary the text of the live link you put in the bio, so that the search engines dont think you are spamming.

The second one is to article market for direct traffic. Now the way to do this is, instead of try to get your own high ranking in a little-known keyword, use the article directories (there are about 3) that have page ranks of 5 or more. So you will limit yourself to just submitting to 5 article directories, or a few more, and write multiple articles. So the idea here would be to write 500 articles and submit them to 5 directories, versus the opposite approach in the first way I mentioned earlier.

List building is considered one of the most daunting tasks associated with website and product promotion. With more and more people wanting to keep their email addresses private to avoid spam emails, it becomes harder and harder for marketers to solicit contact information from their target market.

However, building your own email marketing list is one of the keys in growing your online business. Here are the 4 high impact steps so you can still supercharge your list building:

1. Go with viral marketing. You can create a short ebook which you can use as an incentive to people who subscribe with you. This is good "bait" considering the demand for ebook in the World Wide Web today. Don't forget to include the URL of your opt-in form on every page so you can maximize its exposure. You can then ask your recipients to forward it to their friends and family members who might be interested on what you offer.

2. Make use of signature links. I am not just referring to your email signature. You can also join relevant forums that are frequented by your potential clients and post replies on various threads. You can add the URL of your website where your opt-in form is posted. To attract more people, take time in writing your replies and make sure they all make sense and helpful.

3. Article marketing. What better way to establish your expertise on your chosen niche than marketing your articles? Again, be particular with your content as this is what will ultimately attract online users to subscribe with you.

4. Make your website a great source of information. Fill it with articles that contain useful and relevant information that will be appreciated by your online visitors. The more quality content you have, the more search engine traffic you will attract. The more visitors you get, the more subscribers you can obtain.

Two Big Hurdles Your Prospect Must Jump Over

In the sales chain, or sales process, buyers go through several steps before they make a purchase. Two of the big hurdles are the questions of "Do I trust you?" and "Can you deliver?" Is your web site helping prospective customers answer these questions? Or is your site the weak link in your sales chain?

Insights into Understanding Your Buyer

Today's buyer has a lot of resources at their hands compared to the past. There are simply a lot more businesses around today which give a buyer a lot more choices. Information is very easy to get, via the Internet, so buyers can make more informed decisions.

For example, think about going to buy a car. In the old days you could only buy a new car from a few companies. Today you can choose from a lot of different companies, and you can choose to buy new, lease, or used, and you could choose many styles, like SUV's, sports cars, and sedans. With all the information available on the Web, you can learn everything there is to know about the various companies and types of cars to help you make a good decision.

With more choices and more information, it's no wonder the customers are in control of the buying process. Therefore, to be successful in sales, your business needs to consider these factors. This is where your web site can be a tremendous help.

Ask Yourself These Questions

Here are some questions you can ask yourself to see if your web site is helping or hurting your sales chain:

  • What is it about your business that separates you from the competition? This information will highlight your unique value that will distinguish you from the competition and give customers a reason to buy from you.
  • What are the common questions your potential customer might ask? Answer them on your site. If you don't answer them, your competition might, thus giving them a plus in the customer's eyes.
  • How can you educate your buyers so that they see you as an expert? As an expert, you can be perceived as more valuable than your competition. Therefore, people will go to you for advice and be more likely to buy from you.
  • Do your existing customers like the information on your web site? By asking them, they can give you insights to improve it.
  • At what points during the sales process are you communicating with your prospect? Can you use your site and email to help your customer at these points? Integrating your site more into your sales process can help you build a stronger trusting relationship ... a key to selling.

Businesses should take advantage of the Web to make their sales chain into a rock-solid process. With effective use of your web site in your sales process you can attract more quality customers, make your sales process quicker, and close more sales.

It's not a secret. It isn't as if no one knows she is there. We even know that she controls over 50% of the purchasing decisions in her home. So why don't we spend more time talking to her? Asking her questions? Finding out what she needs and wants? Of course, I am talking about the stay-at- home mom.

I have known about you since my first introduction to home based business. I have read statistics about you and read articles written by you since I started looking around the Internet for ways to make money from home. Yet, since then, I have read thousands of emails, hundreds of sales letters and websites, and yet, you don't seem to be getting your due recognition.

When I first started interviewing women looking for home based business opportunities, you would tell me that you are on the Internet very regularly looking around at everything. You see all of these claims that you can make all of this money from home, but most of them are like a shell game.

They promise the world, they say all the right things, they get your interest, but they never seem to just come straight out and tell you what the business actually is. You tell me things like, *It usually turns out to be one of those pyramid schemes.* The truth is after a year or so, you have just about lost hope. Now it all sounds the same; it reminds you of the teacher's voice in the Charlie Brown classroom scenes. (whaa whaw whaa whaaaaw)

So what is the answer? Article marketing. When I was in grade school, I hated the girls the teacher put on my left and right to keep me out of trouble, because they had perfect handwriting. They would pass notes back and forth day after day. When we needed to write a book report, it was more like an art project. Their hand writing was so consistent and readable.

Since then, I have even read books about, and practiced my hand writing, and still my office manager will hand me a note, or my mother, and the hand writing is beautiful. So how does all this lead me to the conclusion that article marketing is the solution to your problem?

I think many women as girls were encouraged in there writing pursuits. They have a writing voice, the know how to express themselves and their not afraid to write. If you combine this with some of the opportunities that are opening up on the Internet, I think you have a good fit.

The truth is there is an information gap on the Internet. Thousands of searches come back without results every day. Even the guy whose writing was destined to be a doctor, and whose brain was destined to be a janitor is writing and making money on the internet. Thank God for spell check and grammar check -- did I mention the thesaurus button?

So start simple, go to blogspot.com and set up your blog. Then setup an account on this article directory. Then just start writing articles. Don't know what to write about? Start by writing about your frustrations of trying to find ways to make money from home online. Want to understand something on the Internet better, like SEO? Then write 50 articles about it, and soon you will be the expert that people will be looking to for advice. Go ahead, give it a try.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

You've just finished putting in all kinds of effort towards getting your website online. You're ready to take orders and make sales. The only problem is... No one can find your website! You need to get listed in the major search engines in order to get visitors to visit your website. What can you do? Follow these 3 steps and the search engines will know about your site in no time at all.

1. Write an article related to the main topic of your website.

Not sure if you know enough about writing to write an article? Don't worry about being perfect. Write about what you know. Keep the article short, between 300-600 words long. When you write the article, give out general information that anyone would gladly post on their site as valuable content. Don't try to sell your product or service in this article.

Remember the goal of the article is for you to get a valuable link back to your website, not to make a sale. In fact, if you try to make a sale in the article, most webmasters will not want to publish your article on their site. The whole goal of writing articles is to get your articles on as many websites as possible with a link pointing back to your site.

2. Include a resource box at the end of the article with your website link in it.

If you've created a good general information article that is relevant to the topic of your website, you are ready to create your resource box. Keep in mind here to get to the point quickly. It is usually considered fine to promote your product or service in this resource box but it is necessary to keep it short. You should remember that the main point of including this resource box is to get a link going back to your website. The secondary purpose of the resource box is to get readers of your article to click through and visit your website.

When including a link in your resource box, make sure that one of your links includes the main keywords of your home page. Keywords are a fancy term for the phrase or words a visitor will type in to find your website. Make the keyword the clickable portion of the link instead of your web address. Put this keyword text in between your html anchor link.

3. Submit your article to the major article directories.

Once you've created your article, submit it to the major article directories to get the article distributed on as many websites as possible. Some major article directories include EzineArticles.com, ArticleCity.com, GoArticles.com and Isnare.com. Some services like Isnare will even distribute your article for you for a fee.

Do these three steps and search engines will find, crawl, then list your website in their listings. It's as simple as that!

You want to lead the reader into your resource box to be successful at article marketing. This can be done in two simple steps.

Step 1 - Give good information and do it in a way that's conversational and inspires people. Write like you talk and make sure you offer at least on good gold nugget of actionable information.

Step 2 - Then in the resource box you then invite them back to your website or blog and exchange their email address for more great quality information from you. You don't even have to be salesy in your resource box. You just follow what I call my FIB formula:

Flow: The resource box flows out of the article body, because the resource box is the next paragraph in the article. Don't do what most article writers do and start the resource box with your name and qualifications. That is like shouting at the reader "The article is now over and you can stop reading now!"

Invite: You invite them back to your website or blog for more information. In internet marketing this is called a CTA or Call To Action. I like to think of it as an invitation, and I even word it that way.

Brand: You brand yourself by mentioning your name and the name of your business. You do this at the end just to make sure that the reader associates the good stuff they are getting with you and your business.

And all you have to do is give them great content and invite them to get some more, from you.
